A fire caused by a suspected petrol bomb attack damaged four homes in Bukit Indah, Johor, over the weekend. Malaysian authorities believe Singaporean loan sharks may be linked to the case, which shocked residents in the quiet neighbourhood of Iskandar Puteri.
Fire Spreads Across Neighbouring Homes
The incident happened on Saturday after attackers allegedly threw a petrol bomb at a targeted house in Bukit Indah. The flames quickly spread to three nearby homes, causing major damage to garages, vehicles, and property.

According to Malaysia’s Deputy Finance Minister and Iskandar Puteri Member of Parliament, Liew Chin Tong, the same house had already been attacked one day earlier on Friday. He shared details of the incident during a visit to the site on Sunday.
Liew described the attackers as “Ah Long terrorists”, using a local term commonly linked to illegal loan shark syndicates. He claimed the masterminds behind the attacks were believed to be connected to a Singaporean loan shark group.
Vehicles Completely Destroyed
Photographs from the scene showed serious fire damage at several homes. In one garage, the roof was completely burnt through while two cars and a motorcycle were destroyed. The vehicles appeared heavily damaged, with only metal frames remaining.

A neighbouring house also suffered similar destruction. Parts of the garage collapsed after the intense heat, while another parked car inside was badly burnt during the fire.
Residents in the area were alarmed by the attacks, especially after learning that the same property had reportedly been targeted twice within two days.
Police Increase Security Measures
Liew said Bukit Indah police officers responded quickly after reports were filed. Authorities immediately began investigations and increased patrols around the neighbourhood to improve safety and reassure residents.
He also thanked local residents who worked together to strengthen security measures following the attacks. Welfare assistance will reportedly be provided to families affected by the fire.

The case has raised concerns about cross-border criminal activities involving illegal money lenders. Malaysian police are continuing investigations to identify those responsible for the petrol bomb attack and determine whether organised loan shark syndicates were involved.
