Tipah’s Story
Ten years ago, in 2016, Tipah was a stray cat living near where her owner worked. She was friendly and would approach people for scratches. Her beauty mark was one of the first things that caught her owner’s attention.
Her owner’s mother had initially said no to bringing Tipah home. One day, she finally agreed, and Tipah became part of the family.
From her first day at home, Tipah was easy-going. She quickly learned where to use the litter box and where her food and water bowls were. She also became close to the family.
Tipah has always been a foodie and was never fussy about food.
Over the years, she became more than a pet. Her owner describes Tipah as a guardian angel, little saviour and loyal companion who was there during some of the darkest moments of her life.
Her owner had promised to care for her for the rest of her life. Now that Tipah is fighting cancer, she is doing everything she can to keep that promise.
Tipah’s Cancer Diagnosis
On 21 July 2026, a mass was discovered in Tipah’s abdomen. The mass appeared to be bleeding, and Tipah was also found to be anaemic.
A needle sample was taken on 22 July. On 28 July, after days of waiting, Tipah was diagnosed with lymphoma.
She began chemotherapy as part of her treatment. Her initial treatment plan involved weekly chemotherapy for four weeks, followed by treatment once every three weeks for another 20 weeks.
Tipah’s treatment has also included medications, blood tests, scans, veterinary consultations and hospital care.
The costs quickly became difficult to manage. Her owner said she had used all her savings towards Tipah’s treatment and emergency veterinary bills.
She also made the difficult decision to resign from her job so she could care for Tipah full-time.
Tipah’s owner said the decision was made so she could be there for her cat during treatments, difficult days and the time they have together.
Chemotherapy and Recent Update
Tipah’s second chemotherapy session took place on 6 August 2026, not 6 July as stated in an earlier update.
After being discharged on 14 August, Tipah started eating well again. Her blood count was also good enough for her to proceed with her third chemotherapy session on 19 August.
She did relatively well after the third session and continued eating normally.
Her fourth chemotherapy session was scheduled for 26 August, and everything went well that day. Tipah returned home from chemotherapy and ate well.
However, on 27 August, she began rejecting her food.
She was given maropitant and ondansetron for nausea, but they appeared to provide little relief. Tipah would often look away when food was offered. Although she took a few small bites throughout the day, the total amount was barely enough to count as a proper meal.
On 2 September, Tipah was scheduled for her steroid injection. Her owner informed the vet about her poor appetite, and another blood test was carried out to check for other possible issues.
The results were fine, which was a relief for the family.
However, the vet said another CT scan may be needed if Tipah continues to eat poorly. The scan would help determine whether the chemotherapy is working as hoped or whether her cancer has progressed.
Tipah’s fifth chemotherapy session is currently scheduled for 16 September.
Her family is now hoping that she will regain her appetite and strength before her next treatment, without needing another emergency veterinary visit.
How You Can Help Tipah
The fundraising campaign will help cover Tipah’s upcoming chemotherapy, emergency veterinary care if needed, and potentially another CT scan.
The funds may also go towards ultrasound scans, blood tests, medications, veterinary consultations and hospital care.
Tipah’s owner is asking for donations from those who are able to help. Contributions of S$5, S$10 or S$20 can be made towards her treatment.
For those unable to donate, sharing Tipah’s campaign is another way to help. Her owner said the campaign is private, and a share could help the story reach someone who may be able to contribute.
She is also asking people to continue keeping Tipah in their prayers as the cat continues her cancer treatment.
