Police have arrested a 71-year-old man in connection with the shooting that left three people dead at a restaurant in Malaysia. The tragic incident took place in the Kota Tinggi area on 19 April, Sunday afternoon. The victims include two local men and a foreign woman, aged between 37 and 63. Police said they died on the spot.

A shotgun is believed to have been used in the shooting. The suspect was arrested shortly after the incident. The incident has spread panic in the area, and investigations are underway.

Background to the Incident
It is initially believed that the attack may have started from a personal debt dispute. It was learned that the accused had recently demanded money from a restaurant owner. However, it is alleged that he was insulted and physically assaulted at that time.

The situation then became more heated. He returned there again on the day of the incident. According to the source, he entered calmly and suddenly opened fire. This instantly turned the situation into a panic.
Shooting Incident
The incident took place at a food court in the Taman Kota Jaya area. Many initially mistook the gunshots for fireworks. However, the gravity of the situation became clear later. It is said that a woman begged for mercy and was released.

On the other hand, three others were shot and died on the spot. The accused did not leave the area after the incident. Instead, he went to a nearby place and waited.
Arrest and Seizure
The police said that the suspect was arrested within about 30 minutes of the incident. He was found about 200 meters from the scene. At that time, a Benelli M/Super shotgun was seized from him. Police say that the weapon had a valid license.

The accused is a farmer and had obtained this license to protect crops. However, since this weapon was used in a crime, the matter is being viewed seriously.
Legal Action
A case has been registered under Section 302 of the Penal Code in this incident. If convicted under this section, the death penalty or long imprisonment can be imposed.

The court has sent the accused on a seven-day remand. He is being questioned for the sake of investigation. Police said that the incident is not related to organized crime or terrorism. However, investigations are ongoing to confirm the real cause.
