A Magical Glowing Ring
Residents in Kelantan, Malaysia, experienced a wonderful surprise on Thursday when a massive, bright circle of light appeared around the sun. A sun halo is a rare and beautiful natural phenomenon. It appeared to be a huge ring of light in the sky. People halted their vehicles and even exited their residences to just see this amazing sight.

Another unique feature added to the beautiful view. Just below the dazzling white ring, a ring in a curved pattern of color was seen at the same time. The second shape resembled an upside-down rainbow with bright colors of red, orange, yellow, green, and blue. Both the sky and the display were extremely clear, and the afternoon was truly magical.
How Nature Creates Halos
Weather scientists say this occurs due to thin, high clouds known as cirrus clouds. These clouds are found at very high altitudes, where the air is very cold. The clouds consist of millions of very small, suspended ice crystals, and it is extremely cold up there.

The bright sunlight shines through the thin clouds and falls on the small ice crystals. The crystals behave like tiny glass prisms and refract and bend the light in various directions. This creates beautiful rings and arcs of the white sunlight when split into its separate colors through this action. It is a natural process that only happens when the weather conditions are absolutely perfect.
A Very Special Afternoon
The striking event lasted for a long time during the day, so almost everyone in the area had a chance to enjoy it. People were able to take many clear photos and videos of the unique shapes from their doorsteps and roads.

While these optical events can happen anywhere in the world, it is very unusual to see both a full circle and a colorful arc together so clearly. The rare sight had spurred a lot of excitement before the clouds dispersed. Was a wonderful reminder of nature’s beauty and surprises on any given day.
