ASEAN Cup Final Fever
Thai and Vietnamese fans were in full voice outside the Rajamangala National Stadium in Bangkok on Saturday night ahead of the first leg of the ASEAN Hyundai Cup 2026 final, gathering in team colours and cheering on their sides before Vietnam sealed a 2-0 win.
“Vietnam, number one, amazing magic football,” a Vietnamese fan said near the stadium.
Thai supporters were equally fired up, with one fan predicting a narrow victory for the hosts.

“I’m very excited. I think today’s score might be a win by about 2-1, or something like that. I’m cheering for the Thai national team!” a local fan said.
Some supporters had travelled much further to be there.
“We flew from Vietnam yesterday. We are really excited to be here to enjoy the final match between Thailand and Vietnam,” one supporter said.
Vietnam Takes Advantage
The final is being played over two legs, with the winner decided on the combined score from both matches.

Vietnam’s 2-0 victory in Bangkok gives them a two-goal advantage heading into the return leg in Hanoi on Wednesday, August 26.
Road To Final
Vietnam reached the final after beating Malaysia 4-0 on aggregate in the semi-finals, with Nguyen Xuan Son scoring twice in a 2-0 second-leg victory in Hanoi.
