Iran Claims US Base Attack
Ebrahim Zolfaghari, spokesperson for the Khatam al-Anbiya Central Headquarters – Iran’s joint command – said that the Iranian Army and Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) had launched a “missile and drone attack” on “US bases in the region” in response to what he described as “wicked acts and terrorist actions”, speaking on Wednesday.
Zolfaghari said the Iranian armed forces had carried out a “powerful and swift missile and drone attack on the bases of the criminal United States in the region “, claiming that the attack caused “heavy damage to infrastructure, facilities, weapons, and equipment, and a significant number of American commanders and soldiers were killed or wounded.”
“This offensive operation will continue as a lesson to the Americans until they regret their crimes,” he added.
Kuwait Intercepts Iranian Drones
Kuwaiti military said its air defences intercepted “attacks by hostile Iranian drones” late Tuesday evening.
The Jordanian Armed Forces added that “Jordanian air defence systems engaged 13 ballistic missiles that entered the Kingdom’s airspace, successfully intercepting and destroying 10 of them, while three missiles fell in remote areas far from population centres.”
US Strikes IRGC Targets
US Central Command said American forces had begun a new round of strikes against IRGC targets in Iran. CENTCOM said the strikes followed recent attempted IRGC attacks on commercial shipping in the Strait of Hormuz and US service members in the region. Iran vowed to respond to renewed US attacks.
Fighting Escalates Again
The fighting marks a fresh escalation after more than a month of relative calm between Washington and Tehran.
