Iran Ready For War
The Iranian Army’s Commander-in-Chief, Amir Hatami, warned on Monday that Tehran is prepared to fight ‘for generations’ to prevent the US from redrawing the country’s map.
“We must thwart the enemy; we must pour the bitterness of failure into the enemy’s mouth to such an extent that they realise this is no place for such actions,” Hatami said.
Tehran Rejects US Pressure
“The idea that someone can rise from the other side of the world and come here to change our country’s map… You are mistaken. We will say we are at war for ten generations, twenty generations, and we will certainly not let such a thing happen,” he added.
Iran Stands Its Ground
The army chief insisted the ‘language of force’ was the only way to convince Iran’s adversaries that their efforts were futile.
His defiant warning follows a dramatic escalation in US economic pressure on Tehran. President Donald Trump has threatened financial consequences for countries and companies supporting Iran, while US Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent has promised what he called “the toughest sanctions in history.”
Diplomatic Deal Unravels
Tehran and Washington signed a memorandum of understanding in June following mediation efforts by Pakistan and Qatar, covering a cessation of military operations and freedom of navigation through the Strait of Hormuz.
Diplomatic efforts have since unravelled, with the two sides locked in disputes over the Strait of Hormuz and accusing each other of breaching the agreement.
