“Breaking Bad” star Giancarlo Esposito has reportedly converted to Islam following his time in Saudi Arabia, with the news drawing widespread attention on social media.

General Entertainment Authority Chairman Turki Al-Sheikh broke the news on social media, revealing that Esposito recited the Shahada – the Islamic declaration of faith – and joined members of a production team in prayer at a mosque in Morocco.

Al-Sheikh attributed the actor’s decision to his time spent in Saudi Arabia and his interactions with the local Muslim community while working in Saudi Arabia.

Esposito, who has enjoyed a decades-long career in Hollywood, is best known for his role as the calculating Gus Fring in “Breaking Bad”, a role he reprised in the spin-off “Better Call Saul”. His performance has earned him international acclaim and multiple award nominations. He has also appeared in “The Mandalorian” and “The Boys”.
Videos circulating online showing the actor praying inside a mosque have since gone viral, sparking widespread reaction across social media.
