Clarine was diagnosed with Atypical Teratoid/Rhabdoid Tumour (ATRT), a rare and aggressive grade 4 brain cancer that can be extremely difficult to treat.
Doctors explained that ATRT can worsen quickly, leaving Clarine with little time before treatment needs to begin.
For her family, the news has been heartbreaking. Watching a young child face such a serious illness is already difficult, but knowing every moment counts makes the journey even harder.
Family Faces Unaffordable Treatment Costs
Clarine’s family lives a simple life in Poso, Indonesia.
Clarine’s father works in farming and earns under IDR 10,000,000 per month. He also helps care for his parents’ electronic shop after Clarine’s grandfather suffered a stroke three years ago.
Clarine’s mother stays home full-time to care for the children.
The family has always lived modestly, but the cost of treating a rare cancer is beyond what any ordinary family could prepare for.
In Malaysia, chemotherapy and radiotherapy were estimated to cost around RM500,000. Clarine may also need to stay there for 9 to 12 months during treatment.
Due to ATRT’s aggressive nature, the family decided to bring Clarine to Singapore for specialised paediatric cancer care.
Clarine Needs Urgent Treatment Support
According to Clarine’s medical report from National University Hospital (NUH) Singapore, treatment may include induction chemotherapy, high-dose chemotherapy with autologous stem cell rescue, radiation therapy, and maintenance treatment.
The estimated total cost is approximately SGD 612,000. The family is raising funds progressively, starting with a target of SGD 153,000.
One piece of hope remains: staging investigations, including an MRI of the spine and a lumbar tap, showed the cancer had not spread at that time.
However, hope alone cannot cover the treatment Clarine urgently needs.
The family is asking for support to help Clarine receive lifesaving care.
