USS Lincoln Arrives Thailand
The USS Abraham Lincoln docked at Thailand’s Laem Chabang port near Pattaya on Wednesday, giving the nearly 5,000 sailors and Marines aboard their first full shore leave after a 286-day deployment, including more than 250 consecutive days at sea.
Footage shows the aircraft carrier in port, with pickup trucks and buses waiting to whisk personnel into the party town of Pattaya for some long-awaited R&R. Crew members are later seen leaving the ship for shore, while supporters gather nearby to welcome them.
“I am here to support the troops coming in,” one supporter said. “They’re coming in from a hard, hard deployment, and I’m just here to support and show love to the troops coming in.”
Crew Gets Long-Awaited Break
The Lincoln left California in November 2025 and was later diverted to the Middle East, where it supported US military operations against Iran.
The lengthy deployment raised concerns in the United States after reports of mental health problems among crew members and shortages of food and hygiene products.
Deployment Sparks US Concerns
President Donald Trump downplayed concerns over the deployment, while acting Navy Secretary Hung Cao said a ‘small number’ of mental health cases had been treated, with no loss of life.
Sailors Prepare For Home
The US Navy described the five-day stop in Thailand as a chance for personnel to ‘rest and recharge’ before the carrier continues its journey back to the United States.
