US Launches New Strikes
US Central Command (CENTCOM) stated on Saturday, July 18, that its forces launched another wave of strikes on Iran, marking the eighth consecutive night of attacks aimed at degrading Tehran’s military capabilities.

Footage shows ground crews aboard a US aircraft carrier preparing munitions before fighter jets launch from the flight deck. Missiles are also seen being fired, followed by strikes on alleged Iranian targets that send plumes of smoke into the air.
The exact date and location of the footage released by CENTCOM could not be independently verified.
Iran Military Targets Hit
The agency also said its forces struck Iran’s coastal surveillance systems and other air-defence assets, as well as Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) personnel it said were responsible for attacks on a US base in Jordan a day earlier.
“American military assets also targeted Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps forces that launched attacks against U.S. service members in Jordan on July 17,” the statement on X read.

CENTCOM had earlier confirmed that two US troops were killed and one remained missing following an Iranian attack on its base in Jordan.
“Godspeed, heroes. Their sacrifice only stiffens our resolve,” Secretary of War Pete Hegseth posted on X.
Fighting Between Powers
The IRGC previously said it targeted an ‘American base’ in Jordan’s Azraq in response to US attacks on its ‘infrastructure’.
The latest exchange follows renewed fighting between Washington and Tehran. US forces have carried out repeated strikes across Iran, while Tehran has launched missiles and drones towards US military sites and regional states hosting American forces.
The US and Iran signed a memorandum of understanding on June 17, including a ceasefire framework. Talks on its implementation began in Switzerland on June 21. The ceasefire later collapsed, with both sides accusing the other of violations.
