US Blockade Footage Released
The US military has released footage demonstrating the enforcement of its maritime blockade against Iran, with radio warnings issued to commercial vessels operating in the region amid continuing flashpoints at sea.
The footage released by US Central Command (CENTCOM) purportedly features a radio transmission from a US military officer ordering an unnamed vessel to change course. The exact time and location of the footage posted via social media could not be independently verified.
“Captain, you’re requested to alter course to 190. If you do not comply, we will compel compliance with force. This is warship 45. We will monitor your course for compliance at this time. Warship 45, standing by on 160,” the transmission stated.
Maritime Operations Continue
CENTCOM also noted that, as of August 3, US forces had rerouted 44 commercial vessels, ‘disabled’ two ships and boarded another two during its operations to enforce its blockade on Iran.
The blockade was introduced after the United States launched strikes against Iranian targets, including nuclear facilities, in June following the breakdown of indirect negotiations between Washington and Tehran. Since then, US naval forces have increased patrols in the Gulf and surrounding waterways.
