Filipino Nurse Shares What Her Typical Workday in Singapore Looks Like

While most people are still deep asleep, some healthcare workers in Singapore are already out the door and on their way to work.

A Filipino nurse living and working in Singapore recently gave viewers a real look at what her everyday routine actually looks like. In a vlog, she documented her day from the moment she woke up in the early morning until she finally made it home at night.

The video quickly caught the attention of viewers who were curious about what life is really like for foreign healthcare workers working long shifts in Singapore.

Up Before Sunrise for Work

Her day kicked off at 6:12AM, when it was still completely dark outside.
She even pointed out that Singapore mornings can feel much darker for longer compared with what she was used to back in the Philippines.

Wearing her scrub pants, sneakers, and a dark jacket, she headed out through the quiet, sheltered walkways and made her way to the bus stop. By 6:16AM, she was already on bus service 39, joining other early-bird commuters heading to work.

While much of Singapore was still asleep, her workday was already getting started.
She got to work around 6:34AM, made it through security, and headed straight to her station. Four minutes later, at 6:38AM, she officially clocked in. She put her bag away, tied her hair into a bun, and put on her surgical mask, basically switching straight into work mode.

A Full Shift on the Ward

Her scheduled shift ran from 7:00AM to 4:00PM, meaning she had hours of patient care ahead of her.
Because of patient privacy and the nature of her job, she didn’t film most of what happened during her actual ward duties. Instead, we were only given a brief view of the nurse station before the video fast-forwarded the nurse station before the video jumped ahead to her lunch break.

At 11:01AM, she finally got some time to sit down and eat with one of her colleagues. For lunch, she had a pretty simple bento with rice, a fried cutlet, and a few sides. It wasn’t exactly a long break, though.

After grabbing some food, checking her messages, and getting a little time to recharge, it was back to work. She continued through the rest of her shift before finally clocking out at 4:00PM.

She Didn’t Go Straight Home

After spending the whole day working, you’d probably expect her to head straight home and collapse on the bed. But nope. Instead of calling it a day after work, she headed to the staff gym at around 4:47PM. Since employees get free access to the gym, she decided to squeeze in a workout before going home. She spent some time on the machines, including the leg press, before hopping on the treadmill to get a few more steps in.

By 5:45PM, it was time for dinner. She stopped at an on-site cafe and grabbed toasted bread with mashed avocado, scrambled eggs, a side salad, and a cold drink.

After spending most of the day on her feet, dinner was probably the closest thing she got to properly switching off. She took some time to sit, eat, and chill before heading out for the long ride home.

Viewers Were Seriously Impressed

The vlog also got plenty of love from viewers who wanted to see what working in Singapore’s healthcare sector is actually like.
Seeing her start work before sunrise, spend hours on the ward, squeeze in a gym session, and still have a long commute home left plenty of people impressed. The comments were packed with messages of support for her and other healthcare workers who put in these long hours every day.

One viewer wrote, “Thank you for serving the health care sector,” and the nurse responded by giving the comment a heart.

For many viewers, the video was a reminder that healthcare workers don’t just show up for their shifts and go home. Their days can involve early commutes, long hours on their feet, patient care, and then another long journey home.

Her own journey finally started at around 7:30PM, when she boarded another double-decker bus and watched Singapore’s evening streets pass by through the window.

By 7:51PM, she was finally back home. From leaving home before sunrise to getting back after 7PM, her day kept her out for almost 14 hours, giving viewers a pretty eye-opening look at the daily grind faced by many foreign healthcare workers in Singapore.
