Shooting At Food Festival

Three people were killed and several others injured, including a two-year-old child, after a shooting at Seattle’s Bite of Seattle food festival on Sunday, according to authorities.

Footage shows people running from the scene as vendors abandon their food stalls. Later, a heavy police presence can be seen as officers cordon off parts of the festival.

The shooting occurred at about 18:00 local time (01.00 Monday GMT) at Seattle Centre, near the Space Needle, during one of the city’s biggest annual events. Police said they believe gunfire was exchanged between two suspects.

Suspect Arrested As Investigation Continues

One person has been arrested, while officers continue searching for a second suspect.

Seattle and Washington state officials have condemned the shooting, describing it as an act of “senseless violence”.

“Impacted families are living through the worst moment of their lives, and an entire community is trying to understand how a gathering built around culture, connection and joy ended in gunfire,” Seattle Mayor Katie Wilson said.

Community Reacts To Violence

Officials say there is no ongoing threat to the public, but the investigation continues.

The Bite of Seattle attracts hundreds of thousands of visitors each year and is one of the city’s largest food festivals.
