Viral Traffic Lights
The new traffic lights in Schwabach, Germany have gone viral for their ‘little green man’ – who some have compared to an ‘axe-murderer’ rather than a regular person crossing the road.
Footage from the lights on Angerstrasse shows the change from red to green.
Historic Symbol Design
The ‘green man’ is meant to be carrying a ‘gold-beating hammer’, which is used to flatten the metal into sheets.
The city is famous for being the historic heart of ‘gold beating’ by hand and gold leaf production.
This traditional craft is recognised as an UNESCO Intangible Cultural Heritage.
