Couple Marries At Their Workplace
Jamie and George Callicoat got married inside the McDonald’s where they both work in Akron, Ohio, on August 8. The couple held their wedding at the restaurant on Thornton Street instead of choosing a hotel, church or wedding hall. Family, friends and coworkers gathered inside to watch them exchange vows. Red and yellow balloons were placed around the restaurant, giving the usual fast-food setting a wedding look.

Jamie walked into the ceremony from a staff area wearing a short-sleeved wedding dress with floral lace details. George wore a black dress shirt, red tie and black trousers. Their flower girl and ring bearer also wore red. The ceremony took place in the restaurant’s main service area, with their coworkers watching as the couple got married. One coworker also made their wedding cake for the occasion.
Coworkers Help With The Celebration
Jamie and George already spend much of their week working with the same people, so their coworkers were included in the wedding. Jamie is training to become a manager at the restaurant, while George works morning shifts. Jamie said the pair currently open the restaurant together five days a week. Her schedule is changing as she continues her manager training.

Jamie joined the McDonald’s after moving to Akron following the couple’s engagement. She applied to work at the same restaurant as George, and the two eventually became coworkers. Their wedding therefore took place in a restaurant that is also part of their regular working lives.
They First Met At Cedar Point
McDonald’s was not where Jamie and George first met. Their first meeting happened at Cedar Point amusement park in Ohio last summer. The couple later returned to the park for their engagement.
After getting engaged, Jamie moved to Akron and later started working at George’s McDonald’s. The pair continued working together and eventually decided to hold their wedding at the restaurant. Their choice also meant the coworkers they had come to know could be there for the ceremony.

The idea reportedly came from their boss, who suggested that they get married at McDonald’s as a joke. Jamie and George did not dismiss the idea. Instead, they decided to make it happen. The restaurant was then prepared for the ceremony, with balloons and other wedding details added to the space.
Drive-Thru Stayed Open
The wedding also took place while the restaurant continued serving customers. The drive-thru remained open during the ceremony, allowing customers to place orders as usual while the wedding was happening inside. The couple and their guests stayed inside for the celebration while normal drive-thru service continued.

After the wedding, Jamie and George planned to head back to Cedar Point for their honeymoon. The amusement park has already played two major roles in their story, as the place where they first met and where they later got engaged. Their wedding added McDonald’s to that list, with the couple saying “I do” at the same restaurant where they now work together.
