A New Face At Lunch
Moscow Zoo’s capybara family has a new face at the lunch table, after Malaya and Kuzma welcomed another baby.
Footage shows the pair having lunch with their offspring alongside their neighbour in the enclosure – an alpaca.
The Baby Is Doing Well
“The baby is doing well, but zookeepers have not yet revealed its sex: with capybaras, this can only be determined several months after birth. Malaya gave birth without complications or the need for specialist assistance,” the zoo said.
The World’s Largest Rodents
Capybaras are the world’s largest rodents. They are native to South America and live near lakes, rivers and marshes. These herbivorous mammals can weigh up to 65 kilogrammes as adults.
