A freelance photographer in Malaysia has apologised to a newlywed couple after admitting that he ate food at their wedding without asking for permission. The photographer also paid RM500 (about S$155) to the couple as compensation after the incident happened while he was working at the event.

The photographer shared his apology in a public post, explaining that the incident took place during a wedding assignment on Sunday, July 19. He said he was responsible for capturing moments at the wedding when he took the food without first receiving approval from the couple.

The photographer admitted that his action was inappropriate and should not have happened while he was carrying out his work duties. He wrote that he understood his mistake and wanted to apologize directly to the couple for what happened.

Compensation paid to the newlywed couple

According to the photographer, the couple asked him to provide compensation for the food and make a public apology. He later shared evidence of an RM500 (about S$155) bank transfer made to the couple.

He said he deeply regretted the incident and would remember it as an important experience. The photographer also reminded other event photographers and videographers to maintain professional behaviour when working at weddings and other private functions.

The photographer ended his statement by repeating his apology to the couple. He said he accepted the situation and would treat it as a lesson for himself while continuing his work in the photography industry.
