A serious road accident near the Surrey-Delta border in British Columbia left a motorcycle hanging from a traffic light above a busy intersection on Saturday afternoon. The crash also left the rider seriously injured and caused major traffic disruption in the area.
Officers were dispatched to the 7100-block of Scott Road at 72nd Avenue and 120th Street just before 3 p.m. when police responded to a motorcycle versus a sedan crash, they say. The motorcyclist was seriously injured but not life-threatening and was rushed to hospital, authorities said. The driver of the car was reportedly unharmed.
Motorcycle Left Suspended Above Intersection
Photos and videos shared online showed the motorcycle tangled around an overhead traffic signal pole after the crash. The unusual scene quickly caught people’s attention, with many bystanders stopping to film and watch as emergency crews worked below.
Witnesses described being shocked by the sight. One local resident told reports he initially noticed a damaged car in the middle of the road before looking up and spotting the motorcycle suspended above the intersection.
Roads Closed As Crews Cleared Scene
Following the accident, police closed Scott Road between 70th Avenue and 72nd Avenue while emergency teams worked to remove the vehicles and clear debris from the roadway. The operation heavily affected traffic in the area.

The footage from the crash was released online, and many social media users commented on the scene being very unusual, some referring to it as a stunt scene from a movie or a video game glitch. Others shared their relief of the rider’s survival in the accident.
