A father and his young son survived a frightening moment at a railway station in Bangladesh after both fell onto the tracks as a train was moving away. The man quickly protected his child by covering him with his own body while the train passed over them.
Fall onto the tracks
The incident happened when the family was traveling on the Titas commuter train from Brahmanbaria to Bhairab. Reports said the train arrived at the station about one and a half hours late. As it started moving again, the father tried to get off while holding his child.

During this moment, the child slipped from his hands and fell into the narrow space between the train and the platform. Within a few seconds the situation was already dangerous, as the train was already moving.
Quick action saves lives
The father responded instantly. He sprung off on the tracks without any doubt and took his child in his arms. Then he placed his body even against the wall of the platform; the child clung to him.

As the train continued moving, eight coaches passed directly above them. Despite the risk, both the father and child remained still and avoided serious injury. They stayed close to the wall until the train had fully cleared the area.
Falu Mia, a counter attendant on the Titas commuter train, said the family had tried to get off while the train was already moving. He confirmed that the father’s quick response helped save both lives during the incident.
Help from passengers
At the same time, other passengers on the train helped the child’s mother get off safely. People nearby watched the incident but were unable to act quickly due to the sudden danger.

Once the train had gone, people around the tracks hurried to the tracks to rescue the father and child. They both turned out to be safe, and no serious injuries were reported.
