After multiple sold-out shows in 2022 and 2024, Singapore’s sharpest funnyman is back with this one-of-a-kind comedy that has attained critical and commercial success.
In a semi-improvised comedic monologue, Rishi Budhrani, the first stand-up comedian invited to host the National Day Parade (2022), the voice of Sammy on the award-winning Netflix animated series, Downstairs, and a seasoned pro on Comedy Central Asia, has amassed a bunch of material, inspired by his father’s own journey, to create an original, heartfelt and funny tale, made-to-measure.
A Singaporean tailor takes you through his time in this country as a business owner for over 4 decades. He sees things like nobody else does and he regales us with stories of dealing with the “Mat-salleh’s” from different parts of the world, and how he fought to survive through the Gulf War, SARS, the Asian Financial Crisis, and most recently, the pandemic.
He does all this while making you laugh, becoming your friend, and, most importantly, trying to make you a suit.
In every sense, this is truly a tailor-made Singaporean story.
“Can I Make You A Suit, Mate?” was first presented by Esplanade – Theatres on the Bay for Kalaa Utsavam – Indian Festival of Arts 2022.
