Friends Lie For Three Days After Boy Drowns
A normal school day in North Dagon ended in absolute disaster for a thirteen-year-old boy. Min Khant Zaw went missing after classes on Monday, leaving his family frantically searching the neighborhood all night.
They posted on Facebook and begged neighbors for help, completely unaware of the dark truth. His friends knew exactly where he was but decided to keep quiet.
Secrets At The Lake
The young student actually went to a local lake with two friends, known as A and C. Things took a turn when C cut his foot on broken glass and stayed on the bank. Min Khant Zaw and A decided to swim across the deep water anyway.

Mid-way through, the victim got tired and started sinking. Boy A tried to lift him up once but got scared and swam away alone.
The Art Of Lying
Instead of calling for help or telling adults, the two friends went home to play video games. When the victim’s aunt directly questioned Boy A that same evening, he lied with a straight face.
He claimed he never saw the victim that day. It takes a special kind of dedication to choose video games over saving your drowning best friend.
A Heartbreaking Discovery
The truth only came out three days later when a local resident spotted a body floating in the lake. By that time, it was too late. Police and school officials lined up the boys for questioning.

Boy A finally cracked and confessed to everything only after a neighbor revealed she saw them playing together at the water.
Double The Family Heartbreak
To make this terrible nightmare even worse, the boy’s mother is currently working in a foreign country.

Because the authorities rushed the funeral setup and strictly banned anyone from taking photos of the body at the hospital, she missed everything. She never got to say a proper goodbye or even see a final picture of her son.
Public Reaction and Legal Truth
Police confirmed the medical reports show clear signs of drowning with no foul play, treating it as an accident. However, public outrage has sparked intense debate online.

Many criticize local groups who claimed “nothing can be done because they are kids.” Legal observers note that under Myanmar’s 2019 Child Law, 14-year-olds can face legal action and be sent to a youth rehabilitation school for negligence and lying.
Netizens suspect the boys were just playing when a tragic accident happened, and panicked into hiding it. The community is now urging authorities to interrogate the boys separately to break their stories and uncover the full truth.
