Yellow Plume Sparks Concern in Johor
Footage of a large yellow plume engulfing the sky over Pasir Gudang, Johor, went viral on Thursday following a reported chemical leak at a local factory earlier that day.
Chemical Leak Reported at Factory
The incident was reported to the Johor Fire and Rescue Department around midday Thursday after a 200-litre industrial tank containing spent inorganic acid (SW206), classified as scheduled waste, leaked into the environment.

Personnel from the Fire and Rescue Department and the Department of Environment were deployed to the scene and brought the situation under control, authorities said. No casualties had been reported at the time of publication.

The remaining chemical waste was transferred into a scrubber to prevent further release of hazardous substances.
Efforts were ongoing to secure the area and determine the cause of the spill.
