Footage filmed at Fort Magsaysay on Thursday, shows troops disembarking from a Sikorsky UH-60 Black Hawk, firing different kinds of weapons, including a heavy machine gun, bazooka, grenade launcher and sniper rifle, as well as flying drones.

Readiness Drills Amid Regional Tensions

Running through mid-June, the drills leverage the Joint Pacific Multinational Readiness Center-Exportable (JPMRC-X) framework to rigorously evaluate troop readiness. The multi-nation convergence is a strategic response to reinforce the principles of a ‘Free and Open Indo-Pacific’ amid rising regional geopolitical tensions.

First conducted in 2016, the Exercise Salaknib has transitioned from a bilateral US-Philippine event into a large-scale operation.
