The footage spread on social media and raised concerns about cleanliness and patient safety at Hospital Tengku Ampuan Rahimah (HTAR). It was first shared on WhatsApp before appearing on other platforms like Threads.

The clips promptly went viral and prompted viewers to raise questions on the cleanliness of the hospital and potential hazards for the patient during convalescence.

Public Raises Hygiene Concerns

Most social media participants voiced worries about hygiene and infection. Some claimed birds could leave droppings in the ward area, while others worried about dust and airborne particles affecting vulnerable patients. Several users called for action from health authorities to improve safety.

Hospital Explains Situation

Hospital Tengku Ampuan Rahimah said the issue is linked to its surroundings. It said pigeons and crows live in trees around the hospital compound and may enter buildings unintentionally. The hospital added that it is carrying out tree pruning and regular monitoring of wards.

Control Measures and Cooperation

HTAR said it has implemented control measures to reduce bird activity. This includes working with a concession company for tree maintenance and ongoing checks around hospital buildings. It also said it is cooperating with local authorities to improve the situation.

Commitment to Safe Environment

The hospital said it remains committed to keeping a safe, clean, and suitable environment for patients, visitors, and staff. It said further steps will continue to reduce the risk of similar incidents in the future. The hospital did not confirm when the videos were recorded.

It was not stated when the videos were recorded, and the hospital did not confirm whether any patients were directly affected by the incident. The videos continued to circulate widely on social media platforms, prompting ongoing discussion about hospital facility management and environmental control around medical buildings. HTAR has reiterated that it will continue working with relevant agencies to monitor the situation and reduce the likelihood of similar incidents occurring in the future.
