A Japanese content creator recently shared her experience attending the Tokyo premiere of Michael, describing it as very different from the anime and video game premieres she had previously attended in Japan.
A Hollywood premiere with Tokyo energy
The creator admitted she did not expect to see Jaafar Jackson and Prince Jackson from such a close distance.

Jaafar Jackson arrived on the red carpet with his fiancée, while Prince Jackson, Michael Jackson’s eldest son, also attended the event.

Japanese fans cheered loudly throughout the arrivals, and several local celebrities, including Shingo from SMAP, were spotted at the premiere alongside singers, dancers, athletes, and other talents.

For the creator, it was her first time experiencing a Hollywood movie red carpet event in Tokyo.
The main talking point
The creator also attended the premiere screening and Q&A session featuring Jaafar Jackson, producer Graham King, and Juliano Valdi.
She praised Jaafar Jackson’s portrayal of Michael Jackson, sharing that there were moments during the film when she briefly forgot she was watching an actor.
The event also offered exclusive freebies, popcorn, and merchandise, including postcards and acrylic keychains.
What the Internet noticed
Some viewers in the comments said they weren’t surprised by the energy, noting how Japanese premieres often turn into “full fan events” rather than simple screenings.
One user highlighted the family connection, saying they appreciated seeing Prince Jackson publicly supporting Jaafar Jackson during his breakthrough role.

Another comment pointed out how “Japan always shows up big for Michael Jackson”, referencing the strong fan culture around his legacy.

There were also lighter reactions, with viewers asking about the merchandise and joking about not being “jealous at all” of those attending the premiere.
