A Lifetime of Sacrifice
For many years, Kamarzaman bin Ibrahim worked hard to support his family through changing circumstances and financial challenges. Speaking to Malaysian media outlet WeirdKaya, his son, Muhammad Amirul Adam bin Kamarzaman, shared the story of a father who never stopped providing for his loved ones, even when life became difficult.

Kamarzaman began working at the age of 27 as a factory supervisor. For 23 years he continued to serve in this role until the factory closed finally. At that time, he earned about RM4,000 (approximately SGD 1,220) per month. After losing the job, he accepted work as a security guard, earning around RM1,200 (approximately SGD 365) monthly. Despite the large decline in income, he continued supporting his wife and children without complaint.
Taking Every Opportunity
According to Amirul, his father later worked in parcel delivery using a 2008 Myvi Ezi 1.3 car. On weekends, he collected coconuts and sold them to earn extra income. The family often saw him leave early and return late because he regularly worked overtime.

Amirul remembered that his father used to take food from home each day so that they could afford to pay for it. A memory that stuck with him was when his father would continue to wear an old pair of ripped-up shoes while working. Despite adversity, Kamarzaman always made sure to look after his family and see to his children’s education.
For a while the family’s finances were better because Kamarzaman ran a gold shop. In those years he was able to support his family with greater ease. Amirul also described his father as a man that helped other people secretly through charity.
Family Strength Through Hardship
However, challenges returned after Kamarzaman was reportedly cheated during a gold transaction. He was forced to leave the business and seek other employment to continue supporting his household.

One of Amirul’s happiest memories came when he secured a position as an operations officer at Bank Muamalat. Although Kamarzaman reportedly had only RM120 (approximately SGD 37) in his bank account, he withdrew RM100 (approximately SGD 30) to treat the family to a special dinner.

Today, Kamarzaman is battling Stage 4 cancer. Amirul said seeing his father become vulnerable has been emotionally difficult for the family. In spite of his sickness, Kamarzaman is still a respected figure who has made numerous contributions through hard work, determination, and dedication, which keep motivating those around him.
