White House Briefing Raises Questions
Donald Trump appeared to ‘rest his eyes’ during a White House briefing on Thursday, just a day after Secretary of State Marco Rubio was forced to deny the president had fallen asleep in meetings.

Footage shows Trump with his eyes closed as one of his officials touted the benefits of ‘clean, beautiful coal’. It was not clear if the president was actually asleep.
Rubio Rejects Claims
US Secretary of State Marco Rubio had a confusing – and at time downright bizarre – row with a congressman over whether Trump had fallen asleep during previous meetings, at his latest Foreign Affairs Committee appearance on Wednesday.
Ted Lieu played him a number of clips which he claimed proved it, adding: “Secretary Rubio, have you been at more than one meeting where President Trump has fallen asleep?”

“That’s false. That’s false. I’ve never seen him fall asleep. On the contrary, the guy doesn’t sleep, which is a big problem because he calls me at 2 in the morning,” Rubio replied.
Heated Exchange in Congress
“You’re lying to Congress secretary Rubio, so I’m gonna show you another video in a moment the president’s inability stay awake on the job has caused other countries to perceive him differently. They mock him. They see he is weak and he is feeble,” Lieu hit back.
Media outlets have reported on Trump supposedly nodding off, but this has never been confirmed – with some commentators suggesting he was previously deep in thought or resting his eyes.
