A normal drive around Joo Chiat turned into a seriously messy situation after a bird appeared to unload a huge amount of droppings onto a car.
Dashcam footage shared on Reddit showed the bird covering a large part of the vehicle, with the mess spread across the windows, roof, and bonnet. The post quickly attracted other Singapore users who had their own stories of getting caught in similar situations.
And honestly, some of them were way worse.
Bird Droppings Are Apparently a Driving Hazard
Several Reddit users said bird droppings on cars are not exactly unusual in Singapore, especially when parking under trees or in areas where large groups of birds gather.
One user shared that a fish had recently fallen onto their windscreen while driving along the same street. Another described returning to a parked black car after leaving it under a tree for a few weeks. The car had collected so much bird poop that it looked almost white.
They had to spend about an hour cleaning the windows with tissues just to see clearly enough to drive to a nearby car wash.
Other users had similar experiences at open-air car parks. One person said several pigeons managed to hit their car at almost the same time. Another recalled getting hit directly on the shoulder just after stepping out of their vehicle.
So yes, getting bird poop on your car can happen. But the Joo Chiat footage takes things to another level.
Redditors Turned It Into Comedy
As expected, Singapore Reddit did not waste time turning the incident into a meme.
Some joked that the bird had carried out a carpet bombing operation. Others compared it to a military airstrike, complete with references to dive bombers and Stuka sirens.
One commenter joked that the bird must have eaten two McSpicy burgers and an iced Milo before the attack. Another added bubble tea to the imaginary meal.
There were also plenty of classic Singapore-style jokes about buying 4D using the car plate number.
An older belief also came up. According to one commenter, some people used to say that getting a lot of bird droppings on your car could mean you were about to win the lottery.
At that point, after cleaning up a mess like this, buying a 4D ticket might actually feel reasonable.
Where You Park Can Make a Difference
The comments also gave a useful explanation for why some parts of Singapore seem more prone to bird droppings.
Trees are an obvious factor. Birds often gather and rest on branches above parked cars, which means vehicles underneath can become easy targets.
One Redditor recalled a particularly hazardous experience at a former car park near Somerset Road and Grange Road. Their friend thought they had found a perfect empty parking spot, only to discover later why nobody else wanted it.
The car was so badly covered that even the entire car wash team was shocked.
Another user mentioned a petrol station car wash where staff asked them not to enter the washing area immediately. They wanted to blast the droppings towards the grass instead of letting everything wash onto the ground.
There were even jokes about certain birds being regulars around car washes.
For motorcyclists, meanwhile, there is obviously less protection from an unexpected delivery from above.
Is This Actually Common in Singapore?
Bird droppings on cars are common enough that Singapore drivers clearly have plenty of stories about them. A full vehicle getting covered in one go is much less ordinary, but the Reddit replies suggest it is not impossible.
The Joo Chiat incident simply happened to capture the whole thing on camera, making it even funnier for everyone watching from a safe distance.
For the driver, though, there was probably nothing funny about the cleanup.
Singapore already has rain, heat, traffic, and ERP to deal with. Apparently, drivers also need to watch the sky.
