The incident raised questions about what could happen if the sensors failed and the train moved off while someone was trapped.
One Reddit user asked who would be responsible if such a situation happened, saying the consequences could be serious.
Commuters Warn Against Rushing for Trains
Many commenters said the situation could have been avoided by simply waiting for the next train.
Some said trains come pretty often anyway, so risking it just to squeeze in before the doors close isn’t worth it.
One user shared that similar incidents had happened elsewhere, including a case in South Korea where someone died after being caught between train doors.
Others also recalled a past incident in Sentosa where a person was holding onto the side of a platform screen door as a train moved off.
Online Debate Over Time Management And Safety
While some sympathised with the woman, others criticised commuters who rush into trains at the last second.
Several users said that if someone is already running to catch a train, they are likely already late and should accept the delay instead of risking their safety.
The comments eventually came down to one simple point: just leave earlier and don’t risk making a last-second dash for the train.
