Final Farewell Held
Thousands of people gathered on Thursday evening to attend the funeral ceremony of slain Iranian Supreme Leader Ali Khamenei as he was laid to rest in Mashhad, northeastern Iran, following a series of memorial and funeral events held over several days across Iranian and Iraqi cities.

Footage shows large crowds of mourners gathering at the Holy Shrine of Imam Reza, carrying portraits of the former leader and Iranian flags, before performing a funeral prayer over his coffin.
Iranian state media reported that the funeral procession took place along Imam Reza Street, beginning at 3 PM local time, and that the former leader’s eldest son, Ayatollah Mostafa Khamenei, led the funeral prayers.
Nationwide Ceremonies Continue
The ceremonies began on Sunday at the Grand Imam Khomeini Mosalla in Tehran, where thousands gathered over two days to pay their final respects.

On Tuesday, Khamenei’s body was taken to Qom, where funeral prayers and a procession were held at Jamkaran Mosque. It was later transported to Iraq, with farewell ceremonies held in the holy cities of Najaf and Karbala.
Successor Named
Iranian authorities said Khamenei was killed on the first day of the joint US-Israeli military operation launched on February 28. His son, Mojtaba Khamenei, was later named as his successor.
The funeral marked the final stage of several days of public mourning across Iran and Iraq.
