A Chinese man who died shortly after serving a one-day jail sentence in Kedah has left his family in deep sorrow. The man, identified as Lu Xun, had been jailed for driving against traffic in Sungai Petani before later collapsing after his release. His former wife later shared emotional details about their final moments together in a touching Facebook post.

Lu had lived in Malaysia for around 30 years. He was accused of driving against the flow of traffic along Jalan Lencongan Barat on April 26 before crashing into another vehicle. The court later sentenced him to one day in jail and fined him RM10,000 under the Road Transport Act 1987 for dangerous driving.
The family waited outside
According to Lu’s former wife, she and their daughter waited outside the prison hoping to quickly bring him to the hospital after his release. She explained that their daughter already knew her father was in poor health and wanted him to receive treatment as soon as possible.

She said they felt relieved after seeing Lu being pushed out in a wheelchair. However, the situation quickly became frightening when they noticed that his face and lips looked unusually pale. She said she was shocked as her daughter cried next to her.
Lu was rushed to Pantai Hospital, where doctors tried to revive him for around 15 minutes. Unfortunately, he soon died, and his former wife was devastated and upset.
Final Moments Together
The woman also revealed that she and Lu had not spoken or met for nearly 10 years following their divorce. Despite the long separation, she said she stayed beside him during the drive to the hospital and quietly held him in the back seat of the car.

She described that final moment as something she would always remember. According to her post, she believed fate had given them one last chance to meet before his passing.
Health Problems Reported
Reports also stated that Lu had been suffering from diabetes and high blood pressure before the incident. His health condition was said to have worsened in recent months.
Aside from the jail sentence and fine, Lu’s driver license had also been suspended for two years. Court documents further stated that he could face an additional 12 months in jail if he failed to pay the fine. His funeral rites were held a day after his death.
