Ravinderpal Singh Gill, 30, was charged in Court today (15 September 2023) under Section 377BE of the Penal Code 1871 for distributing intimate images of a woman without consent. If convicted, he may be punished with imprisonment for a term which may extend to 5 years, or with fine, or with caning, or with any combination of such punishments.
According to the charge sheet, the intimate image circulated by Ravinderpal without the consent of the victim was an image where the victim’s breasts were visible. Ravinderpal allegedly circulated the said image on Telegram.
He also faces a second charge for making a insulting communication under Section 4(1)(b) of the Protection from Harassment Act 2014. The maximum penalty for this charge is a fine not exceeding $5,000. The charge alleged that he had sent an image that gave the impression that the victim was nude.
The victims in respect of the first and second charges are different. Their identities are protected by a gag order.

Ravinderpal was the owner of Horizon Singapore, a bar in Clarke Quay which ceased operations in August 2023.
