The incident took place at around 8:30am on 5 May outside Seemralicious Beauty Services at Block 166 Woodlands Street 13.

According to surveillance footage shared online by the shop owner, the woman approached the aloe vera plant carrying a plastic bag before looking around briefly.

She then took out an object believed to be a knife and started cutting off parts of the plant before placing the chopped leaves into her bag.

In the footage, the woman could be seen continuing to slice off multiple leaves until the aloe vera plant was left visibly damaged.

She later walked away with the cut leaves.

In the caption accompanying the video, the owner expressed frustration over the incident.

“Not just stolen… but DESTROYED. Who walks into a small business and butchers our aloe vera plants like this?” the caption read.

The owner also urged netizens to help identify the woman.

“If you recognise this person, DM us. Let’s keep our community safe.”

“Please make this plant thief viral”

Text overlays in the video showed the owner demanding an apology from the woman before a police report would be made.

The owner later shared that the aloe vera plant had been grown from a small sapling over more than a year.

Netizens Condemn Woman’s Actions

Many netizens expressed anger and disbelief in the comments section after watching the footage.

One commenter wrote:

“I rather she stole the whole plant/pot. This is terrible to kill the plant. It was growing so well.”

Another questioned why the woman did not simply ask for aloe vera instead.

“Aloe Vera plant is common and not expensive. Just ask the neighbours maybe can get some to grow on her own.”

Some were especially disturbed that the woman appeared to arrive prepared.

“Who walks around with a knife to cut people’s plants?”

Others sympathised with the owner and even offered to help replace the damaged plant.

“I would be happy to give you one of my aloe Vera to replace the one you lost. Lmk”

The owner later responded appreciatively:

“Aww tx for the gesture bruh just sad that this has to happen we grew it from a sapling and she had it butured. Thank u so much. No worries”
