Deadly School Shooting
Thai Prime Minister Anutin Charnvirakul was surrounded by reporters as he left the scene of Friday’s deadly school shooting in Nonthaburi.
Earlier, he called it ‘truly terrible’, telling reporters it should ‘never have happened’. “I am deeply saddened that this incident took place. I am not only grieving for those who lost their lives, but also deeply saddened that an event like this could even happen,” the prime minister said.
Ambulances and emergency crews raced to Debsirin Nonthaburi School on Friday after an armed ’14-year-old’ student went on a deadly rampage, killing at least seven people and leaving scores more injured.
Prime Minister Responds
The teenage gunman was among the dead. Police said he turned the weapon on himself after the attack and later died in hospital.
Investigators said the 14-year-old fired at least 26 rounds from a handgun belonging to his grandfather.
Attack Investigation Continues
Authorities said the teenager had already killed his grandparents at their home before travelling to the school and opening fire.
Investigations are ongoing.
