Emergency After Take-Off
A passenger was taken to hospital with reported neck injuries after a cabin window became dislodged on a Ryanair flight from Thessaloniki to Germany on Friday, forcing the aircraft to turn back.
Footage shows the damaged window and oxygen masks hanging above the seats as passengers hold hands and breathe through them. A medical team is later seen treating the injured passenger.
Flight FR1879 was heading to Memmingen, in southern Germany, when the window failed shortly after take-off, causing the cabin to depressurise.
Flight Returns Safely
Ryanair said the aircraft returned to Thessaloniki and landed normally. Passengers disembarked safely, while one person requested medical assistance.
Local media reported that the 61-year-old man seated beside the window was partially pulled towards the opening during the sudden loss of pressure. His wife and other passengers reportedly pulled him back into the cabin. Ryanair has not confirmed that account.
The remaining passengers were transferred to a replacement aircraft, which departed Thessaloniki at 09:53 local time. The cause of the window failure remains under investigation.
