Perkeso has launched a large neuro-robotic rehabilitation center in Perak, Malaysia, aimed at helping injured workers recover from serious accidents and medical conditions using advanced treatment systems and modern rehabilitation technology.

Center Details and Capacity

The center is named the Sultan Nazrin Shah Perkeso Rehabilitation Centre. It is located on a 38.47-acre site in Bandar Meru Raya.

Officials said it is the largest rehabilitation center of its kind in Southeast Asia. It can treat up to 700 patients at one time and around 3,000 patients each year, supporting long-term recovery needs for workers across different sectors.

Patients and Medical Cases

Since starting operations in July 2025, the center has treated 1,095 patients. Cases include workplace accidents, spinal cord injuries, occupational diseases, and stroke. The Human Resources Ministry said the number of patients is expected to rise as more workers require rehabilitation services nationwide.

Technology-Driven Treatment

The facility uses neuro-robotic and cybernetic systems to support recovery. It includes robotics-assisted therapy, virtual reality training, and advanced motion analysis tools.

A total of 65 Cyberdyne Hybrid Assistive Limb units from Japan are installed, the highest number in the world for a single center. These tools help patients regain movement and strength after serious injuries.

Construction and Cost

Construction of the center began on May 2, 2022, and was completed in four years. The project cost nearly RM1 billion (about SGD 300 million). In addition, the building has received Platinum GreenRE certification for its sustainable and environmentally friendly design.

Training and Work Support

The center also provides vocational training and job placement services. Programs include technical skills, culinary training, and entrepreneurship support.

It works with local industries and Perkeso’s MYFutureJobs platform to help patients return to work after recovery.

Future Rehabilitation Role

Meanwhile, officials said the center will support Malaysia’s growing need for rehabilitation services, especially as workplace injuries and health conditions continue to rise. It is expected to strengthen national capacity for long-term recovery and worker reintegration into the workforce.
