Malaysia Airlines Flight MH199 Returns to Hyderabad After Engine Trouble

On Thursday, June 20, Malaysia Airlines flight MH199 departed from Rajiv Gandhi International Airport in Hyderabad, India, heading towards Kuala Lumpur. However, shortly after its 12.45 am departure (originally scheduled for 12.15 am), the flight experienced engine trouble and had to return to Hyderabad due to a technical malfunction.

Footage Captures Engine Trouble

A video shared by BFM News on X depicted the intense moments inside Malaysia Airlines flight MH199 during the emergency landing. The footage showed sparks and glowing from the plane’s wing witnessed through a cabin window. 

Airline Confirms Incident

Malaysia Airlines has confirmed that flight MH199 encountered an issue with its right engine during the climb after takeoff. Fortunately, the aircraft safely landed at Rajiv Gandhi International Airport at 3.21 am local time. Over 138 passengers and crew disembarked without incident, as reported by Times of India

Following the incident, Malaysia Airlines grounded the aircraft for further inspection. Passengers affected by the emergency landing are being assisted with rebooking on alternative flights to facilitate their onward journeys.
