Meet R. Kabilan: Manhunt Singapore 2024 Finalist and Fitness Advocate

R. Kabilan, a Singaporean personal trainer, is making waves in the fitness industry. In 2014, at the age of 16, he became the youngest IAAF-certified coach. Now, at 27, he owns Hiit & Run Gym and is a finalist for Manhunt Singapore 2024.

From Frail Teenager to Fitness Trainer

Known as Kabi, he trained intensively for cross-country running despite being severely underweight at 41kg. Determined to overcome his frailty, he began strength training and boxing in upper secondary school. His transformation inspired him to pursue a fitness career, helping others achieve their goals.

Educational Background and Professional Growth

Kabilan earned his Honors in Sports & Exercise Sciences from the University of Essex in 2021. With encouragement from his mentor, Fabian William, and backing from FW Ventures, he founded Hiit & Run Gym in 2020.

Inspiration Through Manhunt Singapore

Kabi joined Manhunt Singapore to inspire others. “My journey from being an underweight teenager to a fitness coach and gym owner proves that dedication and hard work lead to incredible changes. I want to motivate others to overcome their challenges and achieve their fitness goals.”

Raising Awareness for Food Insecurity

Kabi also uses Manhunt Singapore to highlight food insecurity, a cause close to his heart. Coming from a working-class family, he saw his parents struggle to provide food. His mother’s renal failure and his father’s role as sole breadwinner led Kabi to often skip meals. While coaching in neighborhood schools, he frequently encountered students from unfortunate families who endured hunger. These experiences, along with encountering hungry students in neighborhood schools, drove his mission to raise awareness about food insecurity in Singapore.

According to the Hunger Report by Singapore Management University, about 10% of Singaporeans face food insecurity at least once a year. “I’m passionate about raising awareness for food insecurity and hunger because I believe everyone deserves access to nutritious food,” Kabi says. “By using Manhunt Singapore as a platform, I hope to inspire action and ensure no one in our community has to endure hunger.”

Hiit & Run Gym: A Community of Support and Transformation

Located in Siglap, Hiit & Run Gym is known for its ethos and passion for transforming clients’ lives. The gym offers comprehensive programs tailored to individual needs and goals, providing an ideal training environment. Unlike overcrowded commercial gyms, Hiit & Run Gym offers a refreshing alternative, focusing on a supportive and effective training atmosphere.

“As the co-founder and principal trainer of Hiit & Run Gym, my mission is to transform lives through fitness and a healthy lifestyle. I believe everyone has the potential to achieve their fitness goals and improve their overall well-being. My gym is more than just a place to work out; it’s a community where we support and inspire each other to become the best versions of ourselves. Together, we can overcome obstacles, build strength, and lead healthier, happier lives.” Kabi shares.
