A violent confrontation in Malaysia’s Kepong district ended with 13 arrests after a group of men who reportedly came to collect debts were allegedly beaten and chased away.

The incident took place behind Wisma MCA Jinjang on the afternoon of 11 June. Details about the case emerged after Kepong Member of Parliament Lim Lip Eng shared information about the incident on his X account, claiming that the group involved were loan sharks who had arrived to collect outstanding debts.
Incident Under Investigation
According to Lim, the men believed to be loan sharks became involved in a confrontation that quickly turned violent. Instead of collecting the debts, others allegedly attacked the group during the clash.

Shortly after the incident was reported, police officers had responded to the scene. Later, 13 people were arrested in the case. Police have not yet issued a full statement of what might have led to the confrontation, and investigations are ongoing. At the time of publication, law enforcement officials had not confirmed whether the group involved were loan sharks or whether debt collection was the reason for the dispute.
Information Came From X Post
Lim Lip Eng’s post on X made the claim about loan sharks, rather than an official police announcement. Lim, who is also the secretary of the Kuala Lumpur branch of DAP and has served as a Member of Parliament for five terms, stated that the men had arrived to collect debts before the situation escalated.
But there is no official public statement of these facts. This means investigators have not substantiated the claims yet, and they continue ongoing investigations while collecting evidence and interviewing people involved.
Chaotic Scenes Captured On Video
Some on-line video material involved in the incident depicted a rowdy scene on a public road close to the spot. During the chaos, several men ran, pushed, and fought, and some people climbed onto a vehicle.

The video appeared to show a group of people getting into a fight, and it also showed the fight going beyond the initial scene. In his X post, Lim said the incident was like a drama, but it was actually reality.
Police have not announced whether additional arrests will be made. They continue their investigation. They are checking what happened and who is responsible for the violence.
