In a surprising video that went viral, the pet cat of Indonesia’s president was seen being treated better than many humans. According to the video, President Prabowo Subianto’s cat, Bobby Kertanegara, was escorted by police officers and pushed in a pet stroller at a public event.

According to the reports, a minister later defended this treatment by saying Bobby is part of the president’s property and thus entitled to security.
Bobby’s walk becomes public spectacle
That day, Bobby appeared at the Cat Lovers Social Day 2025 event in Jakarta. Videos show him being wheeled onto the stage, surrounded by uniformed guards and given full attention.

Some viewers reacted with shock, asking why a cat should demand such high-level security. Others defended him, saying it’s harmless or even heartwarming.
Official stance: cat is “presidential property”
Deputy State Secretary Juri Ardiantoro responded to critics by stating that since Bobby belongs to the president, he earns similar protection.
He claimed that the state is responsible for President Prabowo’s property, which includes Bobby. He argued that no one should object if the cat is guarded just as the president or his residence is.
From stray to palace dweller
Bobby was once a stray cat around Prabowo’s residence in Jakarta. Over time, the president adopted him, and after Prabowo became president in 2024, Bobby began to live at the Merdeka Palace.

He has gained huge popularity on social media, with many fans following his daily life through photos and videos.
Gifts and formal appearances
The cat has joined official occasions. During a visit by Australian Prime Minister Anthony Albanese, Bobby was given a red scarf as a gift, and the moment drew attention online.

Bobby’s presence at state events adds a personal and soft touch to Indonesia’s political landscape.
Divided public reaction
The treatment of Bobby has sparked strong opinions.

Some netizens accused the state of misuse of public resources, questioning whether its right to allocate security to an animal. Others, however, praised the gesture as affectionate and symbolic, saying it makes the president seem more relatable.
