A distressing video has surfaced online, showing a husky being mistreated by its owner, sparking outrage among netizens. The footage reveals the owner pouring hot water over the husky after it was caught eating treats without permission.
What happened
The incident took place in Samut Prakan, Thailand, where the owner tied up the dog in a bathroom for “stealing food” and repeatedly poured hot water over it. The video showed the husky running around and wailing in pain. In the final seconds, the bathroom door closed as the dog darted in agony, its cries echoing behind the door. The footage went viral, sparking widespread condemnation and calls for justice for the husky.
Relocate to A New Home
After this incident on May 18, the owner decided to rehome the Siberian Husky elsewhere. The dog was promptly rehomed in Nakhon Ratchasima, a province in Thailand, and taken in by new owners, 28-year-old Pramuan Santiya and his wife Nid. Upon seeing the dog’s injuries, the new owners promptly took it to a veterinary hospital for treatment. The veterinarian was horrified by the severe burns on the puppy, prompting them to reach out to the SOS Animal Thailand Foundation. Subsequently, netizens aided in finding out the identity of the previous owner.
SOS Animal Thailand Foundation Reported a Case Against Previous Owner
According to Thaiger, a Thai news site, on May 19, a representative from the SOS Animal Thailand Foundation, Kuson Sukaree, filed a complaint with the Bang Phli Police Station. They accused the previous owner of animal abuse.
Sukaree explained that the dog was pregnant during the incident and suffered severe burns over much of its body. Despite the dire situation initially, the dog’s health improved.
Further investigation revealed that the previous owner became angry after discovering the dog had eaten treats. During an argument with their partner, they recorded and shared the cruel act, possibly as a way of expressing frustration.
Previous Owner Apologized
In an attempt to clear his name, the previous owner who goes by the name Bew, took to social media to apologize for hurting it.
Current Condition and New Home
The husky is currently undergoing treatment for its injuries but has made significant progress since then, with its wounds healing and weight increasing. Renamed Lek Lek, she is adjusting to her new home and forming a bond with another pet, a bulldog named Alpha. Despite its past trauma, Lek Lek delights in running around and playing. Additionally, her unborn puppies are expected to arrive within the next few days.
