Football Fans Celebrate Love
Hundreds of couples tied the knot at Guadalajara’s FIFA Fan Festival, transforming one of the World Cup’s biggest fan zones into a giant open-air wedding venue.
Footage filmed on Friday shows rows of couples gathered in Plaza Liberacion, each dressed in their specially-chosen wedding attire. Some brides can be seen wearing traditional white veils paired with Mexico national team shirts, while others arrive in the colours of their favourite football clubs. The ceremony brought football fans together as they exchange vows alongside hundreds of other couples.

“Because we’re huge football fans. Since Mexico made us cry, at least we can have something joyful from this World Cup, such a wonderful memory,” one bride said.
Hundreds Married Before Final
A total of 725 couples were married in the city centre ahead of the FIFA World Cup final.
The ceremony was offered free of charge, with Guadalajara Mayor Veronica Delgadillo officiating.

“We are in the city of Guadalajara, the heart of western Mexico, where there is so much history, tradition and wonderful architecture, and which has hosted the excitement of hundreds of thousands of people,” Delgadillo explained.
Love At Fan Festival
The mass wedding took place at the same venue where fans had spent weeks watching matches on giant screens during the FIFA Fan Festival, held throughout the 2026 World Cup.
