A small cat was seen tearing up while sitting near its owner during a cooking session. The moment, captured in a short video, shows the animal standing quietly on a table as onions are being chopped nearby.

The unusual scene quickly draws attention because the cat appears to have watery eyes. While the owner continues preparing food, the cat stays close, blinking slowly and looking uncomfortable.
A Quiet Kitchen Scene
In the video, someone is chopping red onions on a green chopping board. The setting appears simple, with basic kitchen tools and a calm environment. The cat is standing beside the cutting area and is observing the process without shifting. The chopping keeps on, and its eyes start to water. The cat does not seem to be panicking but instead stands still with its eyes being shut every now and then. This gives an impression that it is responding to the odorous smell emitted by the onions.
Possible Cause of Reaction
When cut, onions emit a chemical. This material has the ability of irritating the eyes and also tearing them. This is one of the effects that humans feel when preparing food, particularly when working with fresh onions.

The same chemical can also have a reaction with animals such as cats. They may have sensitive eyes when the close distance to the source is involved. The cat in this instance is extremely close to the chopping board, and this could be the reason why it reacts to it.
Being close to the owner
The cat does not run off the table, in spite of the discomfort. It still remains with the owner, implying that it is accustomed to being with the owner during the day-to-day activities. The cat does not seem to be noticed by the owner immediately.

The brief film concludes with the cat remaining there, with slightly closed and wet eyes. The shot is a very uncomplicated yet peculiar exchange between an animal and an ordinary kitchen activity.
