Stars have recently decided to speak up and condemn the recent online leak of Vijay’s swansong movie, “Jana Nayagan,” following confirmation from its production company, KVN Productions that such an incident has occurred.

The studio recently revealed that unauthorised individuals have illegally accessed and circulated footage from the movie across various social media platforms and pirate websites, stating, “We hereby notify that downloading, viewing, storing, forwarding, sharing, uploading or circulating of such leaked content through WhatsApp, Telegram, Instagram, Facebook, X, YouTube, websites, torrents or any other medium constitutes a criminal offence and a violation of copyright laws.”

“Every digital action is traceable, and we have already initiated necessary investigations including forensic investigations and complaints against persons involved and are actively identifying all others in the chain of circulation. Strict civil and criminal proceedings will be pursued against every offender without exception.”

It is noted that the film has yet to be released and is still in censorship limbo.

In response to the situation, stars like Kamal Haasan, Rajinikanth, Suriya, Vishal and RJ Balaji took to social media to express their frustration. Kamal described the leak as a result of systemic failure, that such a thing would not have happened if due process had been timely.

“Inordinate delays in certification created fertile ground for piracy. When legal access is stalled, illegitimate channels take over,” he stated.

Rajinikanth calls for film associations to raise their voice against this, stating that the government must identify those responsible and impose severe punishment.

Suriya, on the other hand, issued a direct appeal to the public, calling the incident “heartbreaking and unfair. The actor urged fans “not to watch, share, or discuss the film”, and condemns the act as “unforgivable”.
