A young restaurant owner is getting attention online after introducing her family’s biryani business in Mandarin, with many netizens giving her props for making the effort to connect with more customers.
In the video, Zara shared that her dad started the restaurant 20 years ago and proudly introduced their famous biryani. She also mentioned that the dish has earned the Michelin Bib Gourmand award for nine years in a row, making it the restaurant’s top-selling and signature item.
Not Just A Biryani
While biryani remains the crowd favorite, Zara shared that the restaurant also serves other Indian classics, including curry, kebabs, and a variety of traditional dishes.
The restaurant currently has five outlets across Singapore, located at Dunlop Street, Shenton Way, Gardens by the Bay, NUS UTown, and NTU North Spine Plaza.
Netizens Give Her Mandarin Effort a Thumbs Up
The video received plenty of positive reactions, with many netizens praising Zara for stepping out of her comfort zone and using Mandarin to introduce her family’s food business.
One commenter said promoting her family’s biryani in Mandarin was “a win already,” while another gave her an “A for effort.”
Many also encouraged her language journey, saying her Mandarin was clear, easy to understand, and showed genuine effort in reaching out to a wider community. Beyond the Mandarin praise, some diners also chimed in with their own food reviews.
One commenter said the taste was on point but felt the portion size was a little too small for the price. They shared that the mutton biryani didn’t quite hit the spot hunger-wise, and they were almost tempted to order a second plate.
