The SIET–SINDA Charity Golf 2026 is happening on 28 August 2026 at Sembawang Country Club, bringing golfers, donors, corporate partners, families, and education supporters together for a day of golf that’s all about giving back.
The campaign aims to raise S$50,000 to support deserving Indian students who need financial help to continue their post-secondary education, giving them a little more support to keep going and work towards their goals.
Funds raised will support education assistance provided by the Singapore Indian Education Trust (SIET), including bursaries and interest-free education loans.
Helping Students Keep Going
SIET has been supporting Indian students since 1967, when Mr. Kandisami started the organization together with community and business leaders.
The organization was set up to support students who could not afford the education they deserved. Its scholarships and loans help students stay on track with their studies and work towards their career goals.
Today, SIET supports more than 1,000 students each year through bursaries and interest-free loans. The support helps ease financial pressure on students and their families, giving students more breathing room to focus on their studies.
The charity golf campaign will help SIET keep this work going and reach even more students who need a helping hand.
For Students, The Support Can Mean A Lot
The impact of SIET’s support can be seen through the experiences shared by students and donors.
One donor shared that their family has sponsored 12 nursing scholarships each year for the past three years, with each scholarship worth S$1,000. The scholarships come without a bond and are meant to help students finish their studies without constantly stressing about their finances.
The donor also shared that seeing how donations can support families in need encouraged their family to give back through education.
For students receiving the support, the financial assistance can take some weight off their shoulders.
One student pursuing biomedical science said SIET provided an interest-free student education loan, allowing them to focus on their studies and family without having to worry as much about money.
Another student receiving financial assistance said it helped ease the financial pressure on their mother.
A former beneficiary also shared how SIET’s support helped shape their education and career, showing how a little financial help at the right time can go a long way. After completing an honors degree in engineering, the beneficiary went on to become a flight engineer with Singapore Technologies Aerospace before working with the Defence Science and Technology Agency.
Another beneficiary said SIET gave them the opportunity to pursue their medical ambitions.
Creating More Opportunities
Financial assistance is one part of the support students can receive.
One beneficiary also highlighted how corporate partners could offer internships and learning opportunities, giving students more real-world exposure as they prep for their future careers.
The SIET–SINDA Charity Golf 2026 brings together different parts of the community to support this work.
People can take part as golfers, sponsor a flight, contribute as corporate partners, or make a donation to the campaign.
With a fundraising target of S$50,000, the campaign aims to help more deserving Indian students get the financial support they need for post-secondary education.
