Just as “Avengers: Doomsday” is nearing its release in December, former Marvel visual department director Andy Park took to social media to unveil the concept art for the movie.
On 11 July, Park posted the illustration on X, which reveals the first look of Robert Downey Jr’s Doctor Doom mask. It also features never-before-seen “Doomsday” characters like Nightcrawler (Alan Cumming), Beast (Kelsey Grammer) and Mystique (Rebecca Romijn).
“AVENGERS: DOOMSDAY – the final full film I had the [honour] of leading as Director of Visual Development at Marvel Studios,” said Park. “This illustration commemorates that journey & reveals the characters & their looks for the first time. #AvengersDoomsday.”
It is noted that Park, who had been with Marvel Studios Visual Department since 2010, was one of the many Disney employees who were laid off back in April, a decision that sparked anger among many including actress Evangeline Lilly, who criticised the studio for letting go of the artists who built the franchise.
“Avengers: Doomsday,” which is dubbed Marvel’s biggest movie yet, features a star-studded cast who have been a part of its superhero rosters. This includes Chris Evans, Chris Hemsworth, Pedro Pascal, Paul Rudd, Anthony Mackie, Florence Pugh, Vanessa Kirby, Wyatt Russell, Simu Liu, Ian McKellen, James Marsden, Patrick Stewart, Joseph Quinn, and Sebastian Stan.
Helmed by Joe and Anthony Russo, the movie is set to be released on 18 December.
