Everything Looks Normal At First
Airport security checks are usually pretty boring. You walk through, grab your bags and keep moving. But for one pencak silat athlete, the trip through security came with a little plot twist.
In a video shared online, the young athlete is seen travelling through an airport with his teammates after a competition. He is dressed in his team tracksuit and has his luggage with him as the group makes its way through the security area.
At first, nothing looks unusual. People are going through the checkpoint, bags are being screened and the team is simply trying to get through the airport.
Then an officer stops the athlete.
The officer appears to notice something the athlete is carrying and asks him to stop for a closer check. The athlete just stands there smiling while the officer checks it out.
And that is when things get a bit funny.
Wait… Is That A Gold Medal?
The item catching the officer’s attention turns out to be a gold medal hanging from a colourful ribbon.
The officer takes the medal and gives it a proper look while the athlete just stands there smiling. He does not seem nervous or bothered at all. He actually looks like he knows how funny the whole situation is.
The athlete keeps his eyes on the medal as the officer checks it out, while his teammates carry on around the checkpoint with their bags and sports gear.
What could have been a normal security check suddenly turns into a pretty funny airport moment. It is the kind of random thing that happens when you are just trying to get through the airport.
The officer seems to find it funny too. He even smiles while holding the medal, making the whole interaction feel more like a light-hearted moment than a serious security check.
Meanwhile, the athlete keeps smiling through the whole thing.
Basically, everyone seems to realise how funny the situation looks.
The Video Adds Its Own Joke
The text added to the video makes the moment even better.
It jokingly suggests that the athlete was carrying a prohibited item before revealing the punchline: the “suspicious” item was actually his gold medal.
So, instead of finding something dangerous, the security check ends up uncovering something the athlete probably wanted to show off anyway.
The medal appears to have been won during a pencak silat competition, and the athlete is travelling with the rest of his team after the event.
For someone who has just won gold, getting stopped so an officer can inspect the medal is definitely an unexpected way to celebrate the achievement.

The video does not show any argument, serious questioning or major security issue.
After the brief inspection, the group continues through the airport as normal.
Other teammates can be seen nearby with backpacks and sports equipment, while passengers move around the terminal in the background. The athlete eventually carries on with his team, with the gold medal still very much part of the trip.
That is probably why the clip feels so relatable.
There is no big airport drama. No shouting. No panic. Just an officer checking an item, an athlete smiling about it and a gold medal unexpectedly becoming the star of the moment.
Gold Medal: Cleared For Takeoff
The funny part is how quickly an ordinary airport routine turns into something worth filming.
The athlete is simply travelling home with his team when his medal gets a little extra attention from security. The officer checks it, everyone seems to have a laugh and the group carries on.
And honestly, if you have just won a gold medal, having airport security briefly stop to admire it is not the worst problem to have.
