A casual fishing session at Woodlands Waterfront appears to have turned into a seriously productive outing after an angler hauled in a large number of small fish from the water.
A TikTok video shared under the caption “woodland waterfront fishing Tamban” shows the angler fishing along the waterfront promenade, with the Johor Strait and surrounding buildings visible across the water. The footage gives a close up look at the fishing setup before revealing the catch later in the clip.
Woodlands Waterfront Park is a well-known spot in northern Singapore, with a waterfront promenade looking out over the Straits of Johor. The park also has designated areas where fishing is allowed, according to the National Parks Board.
The Catch Starts Coming In
The video begins with the angler standing beside the waterfront railing while holding what appears to be fishing gear and a large orange-colored net. The spot looks pretty chill, with the water behind him and high-rise buildings across the strait.
The camera moves closer to the water, showing his fishing line dropping straight in. Small fish can even be spotted swimming around as the fishing wait continues.
Then, the catch finally comes up. The orange net is pulled out of the water, and it’s packed with fish, with dozens of them squirming around inside.
The catch appears to consist mainly of small silver-colored fish, which the uploader describes as tamban. The fish are shown moving around as they are brought onto the concrete surface beside the waterfront.
Dozens Of Fish Cover The Ground
The most eye-catching part of the video comes near the end, when the full catch is laid out on the ground.
The camera then sweeps across the concrete, showing a huge pile of small fish spread all over the ground. In another shot, the angler holds up the fishing net, with even more fish still piled around it.
The final shots focus closely on the fish and the orange net, giving viewers a clear look at just how much was pulled from the water.
Woodlands Remains A Popular Fishing Spot
Woodlands Waterfront Park is an 11-hectare coastal park along Admiralty Road West. It features a 1.5km waterfront promenade and views towards the Straits of Johor, making it a familiar spot for people spending time by the water.
The park’s waterfront jetty also has a long history. NParks says the current jetty was previously known as the Royal Malaysian Naval Jetty and was one of five jetties that once stood at the site.
For anglers, fishing is permitted only at designated spots, with visitors expected to follow the signs and fishing etiquette at the location.
In the video, the fishing session ends with the angler beside a large spread of fish, giving viewers a look at the day’s catch at Woodlands Waterfront.
